A reader writes:I thought I heard some "popping" noise this morning around 4:40, and didn't pay any attention to it. Just received an email from a friend who lives around Hollywood and Kenmore ( a block and a half from me). He said he he heard what sounded like a clip being emptied, but no sirens afterward. I checked with Chicago News Report...nothing. Unfortunately, I wasn't listening to the police scanner via the 'net.
Have you heard any reports about an incident in that area around that time this morning?

I heard the shots Saturday morning
as wellj listened for sirens but
never heard any. I looked in the
paper but did not find any
information. Glad to know it wasn't

I heard them, too. Could have sworn it was shots.
I heard 6 gun shots. I called 911 and they promised to send a car. I never heard sirens or found a news story the next day.
It's important that everyone call 911 as soon as they hear something. We won't get the police presence we need if the community doesn't ask for it. The 911 calls are imperative in determining the number of patrol cars assigned to our neighborhood.
