No City of Chicago fireworks this year

The Chicago Park District has confirmed that there will be no 4th of July fireworks hosted by the City this year along the lakefront.  Last year the City tried something new, hosting three smaller shows along the lake rather than one large display downtown, but do due budget constraints the City appears to be getting out of the fireworks business all together.  There will still be a show hosted by Navy Pier.

Sorry Chicago, the money for Daley's pension and security detail has to come from somewhere. Remember, we all must sacrifice - well, almost all of us...!

Will the Cycle & Saddle Club still do their July 3rd(?) fireworks show?

Saddle and Cycle will shoot off their rockets on July 4th. Always have. It's one of the best. Just go to Foster Beach or one of the Sheridan Road Highrises if you know someone whose unit faces the right way.
