Chimney cakes come to Edgewater

Chimney cakes, a Hungarian treat, have arrived in Edgewater. A reader informed us that Hungarian bakery Chimney Cake Island recently opened at 1445 W Devon. A Chimney Cake (Kurtos Kalacs) is a delicious dough wrapped around a wooden pin topped with sugar, baked in a special oven till the sugar caramelized. Then it is rolled in different toppings (walnut, coconut, cinnamon, chocolate, rainbow sprinkles, sun flower seeds).
