In our latest poll we ask Edgewater residents who they would like to see elected as the next Mayor of Chicago, replacing outgoing Richard Daley. In addition, we encourage you to share with us in the comments why you plan to vote for that specific candidate. I hate that I even have to mention this but, as usual, we will only publish comments that are civil, constructive, and on topic.

It's a shame that there virtually no reformers in the whole bunch. Del Valle is positioning himself as a progressive, and he appears to be the most progressive of the bunch.
But the sad truth about the whole lot, is that they are all more or less content with the Machine such as it is. They want to take over where Daley left off. They want to continue punishing teachers for the state of our schools, draining CPS, privatizing our public assets, abusing TIFs, and all the rest of it.
Rahm is, without doubt, the most Machine-friendly of all of them, though Chico is a not so distant second.

rahm is the right choice for these times. so is harry osterman for the 48th ward aldermanic election.
Miguel did a great job last night and raised salient points. A forensic audit of the city's revenue and expense streams is most definitely warranted and required!

I'd prefer a progressive Republican like Bloomberg in New York or Judy Baar Topinka. The Democrats need to go. They are chasing the middle class & dollars out of Chicago with their high taxes & overspending. Just look at this nonsense over Wal-Mart. Do the Democrats & unions actually think that by keeping Wal-Mart out of the city, no one is shopping there? Please. Residents are just driving to Evergreen Park, Skokie, etc. to go to Wal-Mart. & once you start leaving the city to shop, you start wondering why you live in the city at all with its high taxes, crumbling roads, parking meters/permits & poor schools. Once property prices recover, you'll probably see the exodus accelerate. I don't really see any of these candidates helping out anyone other than union members. Just more of the same.
