As today is Earth Day, we're curious what Edgewater residents are doing to "be green." Vote in our most recent poll: Does your condo/apartment building currently have a recycling program? In addition, if you answered "No" tell us why not? If you answered yes, tell us about any other green initiatives you or your condo building have or tips you'd like to share with others!!

I wish we did, but I live in a 6-unit building, so the city won't pick up recycling. We might be able to find a private company that offers it, but the rest of the neighbors aren't very interested; Instead we just save our recyclables until we have enough to warrant a trip to the recycling center on Ravenswood.
My building recycles metal, but that's it (though I understand our rental company is working towards offering other options). Like the previous commenter, we just save ours up and haul it to one of the city's (always-overflowing) recycling centers.
I'm hoping with the new city leadership taking over soon there will be some improvements in recycling, but I'm not holding my breath.
Areja, in my 12-unit condo building we use Groot. When we began recycling, our trash got cut in half and now we save over $500 a year. Tell your neighbors that.
We have an 8 unit building and use Waste Management. They offer recycling. Our recycling trash can is always more full than the regular trash dumpster.
