Local Comings & Goings

With a ton of activity of new businesses arriving to the Edgewater & Andersonville neighborhoods (and one possibly leaving) we thought we would share what we know:

OPENING - Lady Gregory will open their doors any day now.  According to this Chicago Tribune article, they could even be open for a "soft opening" this weekend.  As we reported in March, the Lady Gregory space suffered a fire which set back their plans but we're happy to see this 200-seat pub has risen from the ashes.  Check out the Chicago Tribune article by clicking here to learn more.

OPEN - Burger Philosopy opened their doors last week on Bryn Mawr just west of Clark (1541 W Bryn Mawr).  From their website:  "Unlike many other burger joints we grind our own select cuts of fresh meat daily; we do this for the same reason we serve fresh hand cut fries every day, quality is our philosophy."

CLOSED - The Bryn Mawr Deli, located on the northwest corner of Bryn Mawr and Winthrop seems to have closed their doors unexpectedly.  One reader tells us that the owner said he plans to remodel the location and reopen in the fall, but there is no sign on the storefront stating so.  It also would seem odd to close for the summer season with the beach nearby.

OPENING? - This space at 5406 N Clark, formerly Pasticceria Natalina, had hand-written signs this weekend on the window indicating they were serving, or would soon be serving, up gelato and Italian ice here.  Now those signs are suddenly gone but it sure looks like something will be coming soon.

OPENING? - The "for lease" signs have come down from the building formerly occupied by Star Gaze at 5419 N Clark.  We're curious if anyone knows what, if anything, will soon be going into this space.  It does seem as if the blonde brickwork received some touching up.

OPENING - Yogurt Avenue is coming soon to the space formerly occupied by Necessary Extravagence at 5416 N Clark.  We hear there aiming to be open this summer.

OPEN - The Haymaker Shop opened up this past weekend at 5507 N Clark.  Haymaker sells furniture and home decorations, and the space has been completely rehabbed from its former lives of a real estate office and consignment store.

OPENING - Gus Giordano Dance School has moved from Evanston to Andersonville and will open at their new location (5230 N Clark) on June 20th.  For more info check out their website here.

OPENING????? - Still no word on official opening dates for Burke's Public House or Nookies on Bryn Mawr.  We've only waited years for each....whats a few more days, weeks, months......???

What about the former Viet Bistro? Or all those storefronts on Clark and Thome and then further up across from Parlour?

@ Jim:

Clark and Thome going north isn't EdgeVille. That's a different ward with different priorities when it comes to business development. That area has been that way for decades.

Natalie is still selling pastries and gelato in the Pasticceria Natalina space. It's not her Sicilian pastries, just croissants and the like, but the gelato is the same as what she used to sell.

Actually Clarence, Edgewater officially extends north to Devon.

Yeah, as far as the map goes. You wouldn't know it looking up and down the street, though.

Jin Thai too at Catalpa and Broadway!

I am not optimistic on the stargaze space it's still listed on the Newmark site and is a really big mess out back.

I also think where the patina store and the Eco skinstinct store was something is going in the more south space.

The one that kills me is where the currency exchange sign is south of tmobile. What is up there?
