Teenager Arrested And Charged With This Week’s Brutal Attack On Bryn Mawr

A teenager was arrested and formally charged with a brutal attack this week on Bryn Mawr Ave. that left a man in critical condition.

At about 10 a.m. Thursday, the 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody on the 5400 block of N. Kenmore. He was positively identified as one of two males who attacked a 37-year-old man as he waited for his friend outside of the Edgewater Mexican Cafe.

The incident happened around 11:10 p.m. Monday evening when two individuals approached the victim and began punching him several times in the face. The victim fell to the ground hitting his head on the concrete.

The males who attacked him then started going through his pockets as he lay on the ground. At that time the victim’s friend arrived and the suspects fled the scene running East on Bryn Mawr. However, there was nothing apparently stolen during the incident.

The man was taken to Evanston’s Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition with head trauma. His condition has since stabilized and is expected to recover.

The male juvenile is charged with felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
