Man In Critical Condition After Being Brutally Beaten Outside Bryn Mawr Restaurant

A man who standing outside Edgewater Mexican Cafe (1055 W Bryn Mawr) last night waiting for a friend was critically injured after being beaten by two male attackers.

The incident happened around 11:10 p.m. Monday evening as the 37-year-old man was awaiting the arrival of a friend. That is when the two suspects approached him and began punching him in the face several times. The victim fell to the ground hitting his head on the concrete.

The men who attacked him then started going through his pockets as he lay on the ground. At that time the victim’s friend arrived and the suspects fled the scene running East on Bryn Mawr. However, there was nothing apparently stolen during the incident.

The man was taken to Evanston’s Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition with head trauma. His condition has since stabilized and is expected to recover.

No one is in custody at this time. But according to a CWBChicago.com report, A witness described one of the robbers as a black man with long dreads who wore a red and white shirt.
