Helping such neighborhood eateries such as m. Henry anchor the north end of the Andersonville strip, a promising new Thai fusion restaurant will open at 5701 N. Clark.

The space, which is currently being renovated to house the business, will be called Blu 57 and is slated to open next month. According to a Chicago Eater article, the menu will have influences from around the world mixed with asian ingredients.

Owner Jai Sookhakitch has hired chef Joe Sukjam (from albany Park’s Taste of Thai Town) to create Blu 57’s cuisine. According to Sookhakitch, the menu will have items that cannot be found anywhere else in the city and hopes to become a ‘destination’ restaurant. The atmosphere is expected to have a neighborhood feel.

Sukjam has had chef experience at many Bangkok hotels before coming to the US. In 2013, he won Thailand’s International Culinary Cup competition for his fusion cooking.

Blu 57 will be BYOB and offer only dinner to start. A brunch menu will be added in the near future.
