Upcoming Edgewater Yard Sale To Be One Of The City’s Largest

For the last 22 years, Edgewater has grown a spirited event that has rallied the neighborhood to help sell their old treasures and find loving new homes for them. The Edgewater Neighborhood Yard Sale has now become one of the biggest and most anticipated community sales in Chicago.

Over 200 households and seven block clubs will all be participating in this 23rd annual event on Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All sites taking part will be located from Foster to Devon on the south and north and Sheridan and Clark on the east and west.  People will be selling their wares in front, side and rear yards within the designated boundaries.

There will also be five group sites for those that are looking for their own space to sell their goods. Those spaces include Barr Funeral Home parking lot at 1228 W. Granville, the parking lot at 6040 N. Winthrop (which will feature a jazz musician and acoustic band), Swift School at 5900 N. Winthrop, Church of Atonement at 5749 N. Kenmore and Epworth United Methodist Church at 5253 N. Kenmore.

In conjunction with the Edgewater Yard Sale, Special Services Area 26 (SSA) which is managed by the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce will once again hold their sidewalk sale. Participating businesses will be along the Broadway Ave. corridor and the intersecting business districts of Devon, Granville, Thorndale, Bryn Mawr and Berwyn.

Also this year, there will be ten participating non-profit organizations with planned activities. Berger Park Advisory Council will be selling pottery and jewelry made by students, Chicago Friends School will offer a petting zoo from 1 p.m.  to 3 p.m. as well as selling homemade bakery goods benefitting The Night Ministry, and Edgewater Presbyterian Church will conduct a book sale. At 2 p.m., Pivot Arts will hold a parade on Winthrop between Thorndale and Ardmore, ending at Colvin House, 5940 N. Sheridan where there will be special performances.

A map of the participating homes, businesses and group spaces will be at each site the day of the event as well as posted online at tinyurl.com/Edgewater2017. Free parking will be available at both St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church, 5649 N Sheridan, and at the Chicago Fire Station north lot, 6030 N. Clark.

We are now in the final days to register for the event. Deadline is Monday, May 29. Participant fee is $10 per seller. To register for the sale or connect with a coordinator, e-mail edgewateryardsale@gmail.com.
