Southbound Service For Edgewater CTA Red Line Stations Suspended Through Mid-August

According to a CTA alert, all Southbound CTA Red Line trains will bypass three of the four Edgewater stations until the middle of August as they ramp up for the Red and Purple Line Modernization (RPM) Project.

The disruption in service began on Monday at 3 a.m. and is expected to continue until Aug. 14 at 10 p.m. All 95th Southbound trains will bypass the normal Edgewater stops at Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, and Granville. However, normal service at the Berwyn station will continue.

According to the CTA, the service interruption is needed in order for crews to perform track and signal construction in preparation for the RPM project.

A similar service disruption affected the same stations for all Northbound Howard trains for two weeks in August. That service resumed on July 31.

For customers that use service from these stations, the CTA is recommending that they take a Howard-bound train to Loyola and transfer to a 95th-bound train. For service to these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Berwyn and transfer to a Howard-bound train. In addition, the 84 Peterson bus will also be rerouted to connect the Berwyn and Bryn Mawr stations.
