Osterman And 29 Other Chicago Alderman Introduce Resolution Calling For Trump Impeachment

With daily drama becoming the norm from our current White House, the nation is left with great divides that seem to be getting worse with this young presidency. Now 48th Ward Alderman Harry Osterman joined Ameya Pawar and 28 other aldermen in signing a resolution that calls for an investigation into the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump.

The signed document, which was presented last week, urges congress to begin impeachment proceedings. The resolution mentions financial conflicts of interest, constitutional violations, discriminatory practices and environmental destruction in a list of reasons for their call to action.

“After taking office, Donald Trump has worked to implement his Muslim ban, defund Planned Parenthood, discriminate against our LGBTQ neighbors, attack Historically Black Universities, pollute and destroy our environment, foment divisions between black and brown communities, propose cuts to the arts, public broadcasting, and programs to protect the Great Lakes,” the resolution reads. “These potential violations undermine the integrity of the Presidency, corruptly advance the personal wealth of the President, compromise the rule of law in the United States, and violate the public trust.”

The document also mentions the White House’s obstruction in the investigation of Russian interference in the November 2016 election. That political meddling is believed by many  to have cost Hillary Clinton the presidency.

“Donald Trump has been in violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause and the Domestic Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution, and has issued regressive executive orders,” said Alderman Harry Osterman in a statement. “I will keep you updated on the progress of this resolution.”
