A new health food store and cafe is set to open at 5507 N. Clark by the end of August.

The business will be called Progo and the cafe menu is said to have reasonably priced healthy options such as salads and wraps. They will carry Metropolis coffee and be blending up smoothies. A portion of the store will also have a retail focus selling products such as vitamins and nutrition bars. They are promising that many of the products will be locally-sourced options.

The cafe will have about 30 seats in order for patrons to sit down, work and enjoy the food. The space is also said to be furnished by Scout, a ultra-hip antique store down the strip at 5221 N. Clark.

Owners Andy Peters and Scott Dickers decided to open the store after the retail space below Peters’ apartment became available. Both were interested in careers centered around food and a healthy lifestyle and thought this was the time to seize an opportunity.

In a DNAinfo article, Dicker said, “We didn’t feel like there’s any place where you can get a quick, healthy and affordable meal [here]. You can get a quick meal and it’ll be unhealthy, or you can get a healthy meal, but it’ll be expensive and sit-down.”

The owners of Progo feel their concept will help fill a void in Andersonville.
