Little Bad Wolf Owners Open New Restaurant

When the counter service restaurant Burger Philosophy opened at Bryn Mawr and Clark in Edgewater several years back, fast food received an upscale makeover which produced a legion of fans. The owners however, longed for a more sophisticated cocktail lounge atmosphere coupled with a diverse but elegantly simple menu. That is when the burger joint morphed into Little Bad Wolf at 1541 W. Bryn Mawr in Andersonville.

Little Bad Wolf has been a neighborhood staple since 2014. After expanding the restaurant a couple years back, the owners (Sal Ashbach, Gus Lappas, and Ankur Joshi) have now opened a completely new concept eatery called Gretel at 2833 W Armitage in Logan Square.

Defying the COVID-19 virus and the resulting wave of business closing, Gretel finally opened after pushing forward its originally scheduled March 23 opening. They currently offer a walk-up window and carry-out menu for online delivery and pick-up orders. With a small but diverse selection of dishes, Gretel has also introduced liquor-to-go to help complement dinner.

Besides its own version of the team’s popular burger, Gretel also delivers some fresh new menu items like a take-home oyster kit, pork belly nachos and a tomato potato sandwich. Prices are under $20 while the cocktails from the pick-up window are $11.

Instead of sitting on a completely redone dining room and elegant bar area, the management is hoping to add indoor seating by month’s end. They also plan on adding a range of new menu items to choose from.
