Edgewater Resident To Compete In RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars

RuPaul’s Drag Race, which premieres its fourth season of All Stars December 14 on VH1, will have a gorgeous face from Edgewater competing to win the $100,000 prize and earn a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

Local resident Naomi Smalls competed on Drag Race season 8 and made it all the way to the final three. Now she is back, ready to earn her place by bringing a fierce game to the new season of All Stars.

As one of the youngest participants in the VH1 program, she had only been performing for a two years. Since then however, the show has propelled her drag career and Naomi used the platform to develop her talent and learn from her peers.

Originally from California, Naomi created a close bond with fellow contestant and Season 8 runner up from Chicago, Kim Chi. Naomi decided that Chicago had a lot to offer in order to expand her creativity. Chicago has since become home for her, a place to learn variations of drag and performance.

“I think that from the experience of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ I’ve gotten to meet amazing people; I’ve gotten to travel the world and work with people I’ve really looked up to,” Naomi Smalls told the Chicago Tribune. “I’ve gotten a better understanding of what I love about drag. It’s the conceptualizing and the art direction behind it.”

Naomi says that her confidence has improved since her last time on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She has been working hard to up her game for All Stars by consulting with Bob the Drag Queen (Season 8 winner) in ways to expand her comedic and impersonation skills.
