CTA Trains Will Not Stop At Edgewater Stations Through The End Of July

A Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) service alert went out over the weekend to alert its customers that there will be no Northbound service to three of the four Edgewater red line stations through the end of July.

The stations affected by the plan will include Bryn Mawr, Thorndale and Granville. During this time all Northbound Howard trains will bypass the three stops, however Southbound service will be unaffected. Both the Berwyn and Loyola platforms will remain open. The closures are expected to last until 10 p.m. on July 31.

According to the CTA, the service interruption is needed in order for crews to perform track and signal construction in preparation for the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.

For customers that use service from these stations, the CTA is recommending that they take a 95th-bound train to Berwyn and transfer to a Howard-bound train. For service to these stations, take a Howard-bound train to Loyola and transfer to a 95th-bound train. In addition, the 84 Peterson bus will also be rerouted to connect to the Berwyn and Bryn Mawr stations.
