Couple Robbed and Carjacked In Andersonville

A couple who was driving on an Andersonville side street Monday afternoon was rear-ended by a pair of thieves who flashed weapons and then robbed them of personal belongings and stole their SUV.

The incident happened at about 1:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon while the man and his partner were driving in the vicinity of Paulina St. and Farragut Ave. According to police, the victims were hit by the suspects dark-colored Dodge Charger.

The suspects then walked over to the pair and flashed guns and forced them from their white 2014 Jeep Cherokee. They robbed them of personal belongings and then one of the perpetrators drove off in the SUV and headed northbound on Paulina while the other suspect followed behind in the Charger.

One of the victim’s phones was later found at Wolcott and Argyle in Lincoln Square.

Police think the suspects may also be responsible for another carjacking earlier on Monday shortly after midnight on the 800 block of West George Street in Lakeview. In that incident, two men also driving a dark-colored Dodge Charger approached a man sitting in a parked white 2014 Toyota Camry LE with a license plate that begins with 9499. They pulled out handguns and forced the victim from the vehicle.

Police gave a description of the offenders as two black males wearing dark hoodies. One of them was six-feet tall, dark complexion and a fade hairstyle.
