Another Shooting on Argyle Leaves Woman Hospitalized

A woman is in good condition after being shot Sunday night on Argyle Ave. which is just outside the Edgewater border but still located in the 48th Ward. This is the second shooting on the street in little over a month.

According to police, a 30-year-old woman from the Calumet Park area was on the 5000 block of N. Winthrop when she was approached by another woman who was armed with a gun. The victim was shot in the left leg but is expected to recover from her injuries. Both women are not from the area and are said to know each other.

The incident prompted Alderman Harry Osterman to put out an email statement regarding the matter. He said that the 20th District has increased police presence in the Argyle area and his office is working to have a new light and security camera installed mid-block on the 5000 block of Winthrop. He also added that he will share more information about this incident with neighbors as it becomes available.
