For the past 7 years, Sara Dinges has worked within the Edgewater, Andersonville and Uptown communities to empower and help neighborhood businesses succeed. Now Ms. Dinges is continuing her local mission by being named the new Uptown United President/CEO.

Dinges will be leaving her current role as Alderman Harry Osterman’s Economic Development and Communications point person. She has worked with the Alderman for the past 4 years and has become instrumental in helping many of the new business you have seen popping up around the hood get their start. She has guided them through common difficulties such as zoning, licensing and financing.

Before her current role at the Alderman’s office, Dinges worked for three and a half years as the managing director of the Andersonville Development Corporation. At ADC, she oversaw many of its programs relating to economic development , environmental sustainability, beautification and historic preservation. It was during this time she co-developed one of her most successful and intriguing programs, Eco-Andersonville.

Sara stated, “I am thrilled to join Uptown United and to continue the organization’s strong work in spurring economic development, supporting the business community and bringing together community stakeholders. Uptown’s future is bright and there is a lot of great momentum on which to build. I look forward to getting started!”

Uptown United’s mission is a clear one: to provide technical assistance to businesses and economic investors located in and serving Uptown, initiate and participate in strategic planning, encourage economic development to strengthen the community’s economic base, address broad issues pertaining to the quality of life for Uptown’s diverse population, and be a network to encourage partnerships. Sara will bring her year’s of expertise to the job starting March 25, 2015.
