The popular NBC show ‘Chicago Fire’ which stars actors such as Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer, will be filming in the Edgewater community this Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

They will be setting up shop in the old Broadway Bank building at 5960 N. Broadway Ave. which they have completely transformed for the show’s filming. According to Katrina Balog, Executive Director of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, the space has morphed into a high-end restaurant that experiences an electrical fire. The script calls for fire engines to be called to the scene. She notes though, that no flames are actually used on the set and there will be no damage to the building.

Balog was impressed by the film’s set’s design. She said, “The set dressing really shows the true potential of the space. We have gotten many calls from scouts interested about filming at the location and we direct them to the management company.”

Broadway Ave. between Glenlake and Thorndale will be closed for the filming on Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. John Quilico, Assistant Location Manager for Chicago Fire said that they will have movie detail police officers helping to direct traffic. He said, “We currently have advance notice message signs on Broadway warning about the upcoming street closure. They will be there all weekend.”

Quilico mentioned that Elmdale Ave. will also be closed between Broadway and Magnolia intermittently. Glenlake will remain open so that people can access Whole Foods.
