2 Dead, 1 Wounded In Edgewater Drive-By Shooting

gunsA shooting in Edgewater early Sunday morning has left two men dead and another wounded.

According to police, the incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV  began shooting in the 6300 block of N. Broadway. Two men, a 27-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, were standing on the sidewalk when they got shot.

Both were taken to St. Francis Hospital where the 27-year-old man,Quentin Payton of the 6100 block of N.Francisco Ave., was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m. after taking a bullet to the head. The 32-year-old man was shot in his left leg and is listed in stable condition.

A third man, 22-year-old Chaz Johnson of Evanston was sitting in a parked car and was also hit in the left side of his body. The man drove himself to Community First Hospital and was later transferred to Illinois Masonic Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 8:43 a.m.

There has been no one charged as of yet.
