Community Alert Issued After Edgewater Women Assaulted And Robbed

Police have issued a community alert after two incidents in the Edgewater community where women that were walking alone were assaulted then robbed.

According to police, both women were approached by one or two suspects and pushed to the ground. The suspects then took the items that the women were carrying and fled on foot.

The first robbery occurred around 9:30 p.m., April 24, in the 5500 block of N. Kenmore. The second incident happened about 3:20 p.m., May 6, in the 1000 block of W. Foster.

Police describe the suspects as one or two black males, between 15-21 years old, about 5-foot-5 tall, weighing between 120-130 pounds and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information about the robberies was asked to call police at 312-744-8263.
