Teen Female Victim Of Attempted Robbery In Andersonville, Suspect Tells Police He Would Have Raped Her

A 17-year-old teen female was the victim of an attempted robbery in Andersonville on Tuesday, October 2. What is more alarming is what he told police once in custody.

The female was walking on the 1400 block of W. Foster around 10 p.m. when the suspect, 36-year-old Daniel Espejo, approached her asking for the time. He then grabbed her purse and the two struggled for control of the bag for nearly a minute.

Luckily, a bystander intervened in the attempted robbery and the victim was able to run for shelter in a nearby business. After police responded to the scene and were able to get a description of the robber, they were able to locate Espejo nearby and took him into custody.

According to court records, Espejo told police at the station “the b*tch is lucky you pigs came because I would’ve raped that little b*tch.” Espejo, who is a self-admitted member of the Latin Kings street gang, was charged with attempted robbery. Judge Mary Marubio ordered him held without bail.
