Man Shot While Stopped at Red Light In Edgewater

A man was shot in the back of the neck while waiting at red light in Edgewater last night.

The incident happened around 10:25 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 in the 1200 block of W. Foster. Authorities said that the man was stopped at the light when someone in a black Ford SUV pulled up next to his vehicle and began shooting. The suspect’s vehicle then sped away from the scene going¬†northbound on Broadway.

The injured man drove himself to Weiss Memorial Hospital and was then transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. His condition has since stabilized.

Two shell casing were found at the scene of the incident. According to a CWBChicago.com report, the victim is “known to police.”

There is no one in custody at this time.
