Edgewater Community Alert Issued After Woman Is Sexually Assaulted On Lakefront Trail

A community alert was issued by Area 3 Detectives after a man sexually assaulted a woman who was walking her dog near Foster Ave. Beach. The suspect remains at large.

According to police, the woman was on an early morning stroll with her dog around 5:45 a.m. in the 5300 block of North Lake Shore Drive. That is when the unidentified man approached her from behind on his bike and slapped her buttocks. He then proceeded to grope her.

The man then continued Northbound on his bike while the woman fled to her nearby home and called police.

The suspect is described as black male that is between 17- 21 years of age. He has short hair, a muscular build, around 5’10” – 6’2” tall, and weighs about 150 pounds. At the time of the assault he was wearing black shorts, gray underwear and had no shirt.
