Thomas Thompson Charged With Attempted Murder

Last night was a bitter cold Valentine’s Evening on the busy Andersonville strip. But luckily those freezing temps kept people inside the local businesses as dangerous events unfolded at the local Walgreens at 5440 N. Clark St. around 8 p.m. Saturday night

As a man was approached by two officers for shoplifting outside the drugstore, the suspect brawled with the officers. Ultimately one of the police was disarmed by the man and he aimed at them and starting shooting. Luckily, he was only able to fire one shot and no one was hit by the bullet, but both officers were taken to a local hospital with injuries from the fight.

Now charges have been filed against Thomas Thompson, 33  of two counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of disarming a peace officer. He was also charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of misdemeanor retail theft.
