Elderly Woman Found Wandering In Edgewater Reunited With Family After Alert

An elderly woman who was found Tuesday wandering in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood around 1:00 a.m., has been reunited with her family after a Chicago Police alert went out to help identify her.

The woman, which police say is between 70-74 years of age, was walking on the 6300 block of N. Sheridan when found. Because she only spoke Bosnian, a Bosnian-speaking officer was required to communicate with her. She had told the officer that she had been walking for two days.

The woman was also unable to give police a name, phone number or address which prompted them to take her to Weiss Memorial Hospital and to issue an alert to the community for assistance in identifying her. At around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, she was finally reunited with her family.

No other information was given by police.
