30-year-old Eriberto Orozco

An Edgewater building’s janitor is in hot water after being arrested for accessing residents apartments and stealing from them. Among items taken were $7,000 in cash, diamond rings and a Rolex watch.

The suspect, 30-year-old Eriberto Orozco, is accused of stealing from at least 6 apartments in the complex on the 6100 block of Sheridan Rd since October of last year.  According to Chicago police records, Orozco was arrested by authorities on February 23 at 6101 N. Sheridan.

According to a CWBChicago story, he was ultimately caught after trying to pawn the Rolex for $1500 at a jewelry store on the NorthWest side. It did not take police long after that to figure out who committed the crimes.

Since July of 2016 Orozco worked for Building Services of America, a company which was hired by the complex to take care of its janitorial needs. According to Orozco’s LinkIn profile, he also worked as a CTA bus driver for the past 2 years.

Orozco, who is a Irving Park neighborhood resident, was also arrested on April 13, 2014 for a criminal possession of cocaine according to police documents.

Orozco was ordered to be held on a $10,000 deposit bond.
