Edgewater Celebrates International Women’s Day With Neighborhood Crawl

With International Women’s Day in two weeks, Edgewater will join in the world-wide festivities by offering a neighborhood crawl that showcases many women-owned businesses in the area.

The celebration will be held on March 8 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and feature bars, restaurants, retail and more along Broadway Ave. from Bryn Mawr to Berwyn. According to a press release put out by the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, the event proudly supports women’s rights by celebrating Women’s Day with Edgewater’s many women-owned businesses within the community.

This will be the third year for the event that is expecting between 100-150 guests of all genders and ages from around Chicago and suburbs. It is open to the general public and general admission Tickets are available for purchase for $35 ($30 for chamber members).

“We are proud to support the numerous women entrepreneurs who are making their mark on Edgewater. This crawl is a chance to meet the owners and experience what makes their businesses so special” says Katrina Balog, executive director of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce.

Participants can expect samples of food, beverage tastings, alcohol tasting for those over 21+, free giveaways, and special services such as a free Aveda skincare analysis by Salon Echo. There will also be a special artwork project in which those in attendance can help color and complete the artist’s piece as well as sit down for a professional portrait that will be included in Edgewater’s We all Live Here mural project.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the local nonprofit, GirlForward in spirit of the global movement’s message to #balanceforbetter. The Edgewater-based charity is dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for girls who have been displaced by conflict and persecution.

This year, the following businesses will participate as crawl stops:
