Uptown’s Fat Cat Team Gets Ready To Open New Andersonville Restaurant

With the word on the street for some time that Uptown’s Fat Cat (4840 N Broadway) owners were planning on opening a new restaurant in Andersonville, they have kept tight-lipped about the plans.

However, signage has gone up at 5721 N. Clark, the home of the former Pork Shoppe. Their new concept eatery will be called Stone Fox and will include a dining room, bar and an extra large patio that the team has an ambitious plan for.

The property has not been able to catch a break with a suitable long-term business but Stone Fox hopes to make a commitment to the neighborhood as they have purchased the building according to a Chicago Eater article.

Stone Fox’s head chef will be Greg Hageli who has made a name for himself at Bucktown’s Red & White Wine Bar and as a pastry chef at Ravenswood’s Band of Bohemia. He will be serving up thin-crust pizzas cooked on a wood-fired grill along with several other diverse items such as a chickpea fritter, a dish based on Portuguese stew and vegan/gluten-free options. The full bar will have 10 beers on tap and slushies on the patio in the warmer months.

Stone Fox owners are hoping to open their doors by the end of February. The are planning a total remodel of the big patio that is expected to open in the Spring.
