The Clark Street strip is perpetually evolving, and several recent developments will only contribute to the established trend. First up, Boystown gift and home decor retailer Equinox opened a satellite location at 5621 N. Clark several years ago. Their Andersonville location is set to close sometime in March, with the inventory being consolidated in to the original Boystown store at 3401 N. Broadway.  An antique store will soon fill the space formerly occupied by the Andersonville Bike Shop.  According to Racked, the people behind Yaya’s Antiques in Whiting, IN have signed a lease on the space.  Another storefront will soon transform as Forever Yogurt prepares to open up shop in the former Paper Trail space at 5309. N. Clark. Finally, word was circulating that Chipotle would be opening a location in the space previously occupied by Winston’s Internet Cafe (5001 N. Clark), however the Andersonville Development Corporation has confirmed that these rumors were unfounded.

If the Clark Street Strip (or CSS for short? Can I start that meme?) had one or two live music venues, that would make a fantastic neighborhood even better. Is there some kind of zoning law against it? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone trying to get something started.

The new restaurant Jerry’s, located in the old Stargaze bar, is going to be having live music when it opens. If you go to their website, you can see how their other location in Wicker Park is set up.

So if Chipotle is not going in what is, by the looks of the demogoing on, sure looks like a kitchen going in.

I’m glad to see new stores coming in.  I was sad when several stores and restaurants shut their doors last year.  I was really sad to see Frida’s go.  I hope something opens there soon.

Clarence – I really like the idea of a live music venue.  Maybe you could open something?

At this point in time, I’ve neither the bankroll nor the credit rating to do that. It’s on my “things I would do if I had a bunch of money” list, though.

A frozen yogurt shop across the street from George’s Ice Cream and yet another overpriced, trendy antique shop.

    Yeehaw, diversification.
