CDOT To Expand Bike Routes In Edgewater

Glenwood Greenway

With the Lake Shore Trail ending at Ardmore Ave. in Edgewater and an increasing presence of cyclists on our streets, it has been announced that the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be expanding bike routes in the 48th Ward.

The news was announced by Alderman Harry Osterman in an email yesterday. In that communication he stated that his office “will continue to work with CDOT to add and connect bike paths.”

With the introduction of the Glenwood Greenway last year which created a two way bike route on Glenwood Ave. from Ridge to just past Foster, bicyclists were given a safer route to navigate through the neighborhood. New routes in the Ward would provide additional resources for them.

The Alderman plans on addressing the new routes at a bike infrastructure meeting Saturday, May 19th at 10 a.m. at the Broadway Armory (5917 N. Broadway). Any questions about the meeting should be directed to the 48th Ward office by emailing harry@48thward.org.
