Attention Sweet Tooth Neighbors! New Cupcake Shop!
March 29, 2014 / By Keely JonesThere is a new bakery in Edgewater, and owners Michele and Aaron McAtee are slanging cupcakes like never before. Located at 1445 W Devon, Maddiebird Bakery had their grand opening on Saturday, March 22. There was a line out the door for the first few hours and cupcake trays were being refilled by the minute. Michele, once an actress and self-described master mid-life career shifter, takes classic cake recipes and turns them into exquisitely designed cupcakes and cakes. They are just as delicious as they are beautiful, and whether you are vegan or gluten-free there is a delicious treat for all.
The grand opening hosted a ton of members from the community and Michele and her husband Aaron were excited and pleased to have so much support from the neighborhood. Aside from the cupcakes and cakes sold out of the cafe, Michele does custom designed cakes for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and special events. The many flavors range from vanilla bean to chai spice with many choices in between. Prices vary based on the intricacy and skill required for each order. Maddiebird is named after Michele and Aaron’s daughter Maddie and each cupcake comes with a little birdie on top.
