Andersonville Kicks Off The Holidays With Late Night Shopping And Tree Lighting

With more than 90 businesses participating in the first of two Late Night Andersonville shopping events, stores and restaurants will be encouraging attendees to shop local this year. They will be offering an assortment of great deals and promotions as well as Holiday-themed gifts and refreshments. The Late Night Andersonville events will take place both Dec. 6 and Dec. 20 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The Holiday Season is here and the Andersonville neighborhood has already began to celebrate with the Viking Pub Crawl and the senior-focused Joy on Clark event. Now things kick into full swing as Late Night Andersonville shopping returns as well as a new tree lighting ceremony that will surely get you into the Holiday spirit.

Adding to their festive traditions, a new tree lighting ceremony has been added to the line-up on Dec. 6 as well. The Holiday tree, which is located on Clark just south of Balmoral in between U.S Bank and The Clark, will start shining at 5:45 p.m.! Santa himself will be on hand to flip the tree’s light switch and then he will stroll over to the Guesthouse Hotel (4872 North Clark) where everyone can get a picture taken with him from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Santa will also take pictures on Dec. 20 during the second Late Night Andersonville event at the Swedish American Museum.

In order to give Late Night Andersonville events a big jolt of seasonal joy, enjoy an array of Holiday entertainment. Edgewater Singers and Windy City Performing Arts will add vocal caroling along the strip and Lakeside Pride will include musical instruments to the mix.

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce and SSA #22 will include a free Holiday trolley this year from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. both nights of Late Night Andersonville. The trolley will be stopping at eight different Andersonville intersections from the Guesthouse Hotel (4872 North Clark) to Gethsemane Garden Center (5739 N Clark) throughout the evening to help you get the most out of your evening. Other stops along the route include Winnemac, Carmen, Swedish American Museum (5211 North Clark), Berwyn, Balmoral and Olive.
