Andersonville Giordano’s To Open Soon, Final Work Being Done

Giordanos1Deciding to bring their next store to Andersonville, the Giordano’s pizza restaurant chain landed in the old Ann Sather spot at 5207 N. Clark St. Since then the company has almost completely gutted the inside of the building while trying to keep the charm of its front facade. It has been a slow process, but they are nearing completion.

Dave Hoemann, Chief Operating Officer at Giordano’s told Edgeville Buzz today that the opening is still some time away. “We had hoped to be open by Valentine’s Day,” he said, “but we’re waiting for Commonwealth Edison. There seems to be a long backlog for commercial electricity,” he said. “We have the alderman’s office involved and everything.”

Mr. Hoemann said it could be months before power and a transformer are connected to the new restaurant at 5207 N. Clark Street. “We’re ready to go except for that,” Mr. Hoemann said. “When everything is ready, we will have events for the neighborhood. That is what we do. We had a job fair scheduled for this week, but it had to be canned. We will have posters and signs out when we are ready to open, but right now we don’t have a firm date.”

Giordano’s was started in 1974 by Italian immigrants Efren and Joseph Boglio on the south side of Chicago and the eatery began to flourish. This is due in large part to the famous stuffed pizza pie which has become the signature order at all the locations. Currently the chain has over 40 locations in and around Chicago plus 3 in the Orlando, Florida area.  According to their website, “Giordano’s has been acclaimed “Chicago’s Best Pizza” by NBC, CBS Chicago, New York Times, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Eater, Home & Garden Magazine, Concierge Preferred and more!”.
