Alert Given About Violent Daytime Robberies In Edgewater and Uptown

ChicagoPoliceThe Chicago police have put out a warning about recent violent robberies that have occurred in the Edgewater and Uptown neighborhoods.

The perpetrators approach the victims from behind, then knock them to the ground. The suspects then take the victims’ jewelry, wallets and other valuables.  All the occurrences have happened in the daytime on the sidewalk.

The first incident occurred at 12:20 p.m. on June 30, along the 1200 block of W. Berwyn Ave.; the second at 4:10 p.m. on June 30 along the 900 block of W. Lawrence Ave.; and the third at noon on July 2 in the 4900 block of N. Kenmore Ave.

The first suspect was a black man between the ages of 16-25, who was between 5-feet and 5-feet-6 and 160-190 pounds with braided hair and a dark complexion. A second suspect was a black man between the ages of 16-20, about 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds with short hair.
