Andersonville Farmer’s Market Celebrates 10 Years With Special Outdoor Community Dining Event
July 24, 2019 / By Edgeville Buzz
Over the past decade, the Andersonville Farmer’s Market has been a weekly summertime tradition for area residents. To celebrate that 10 year milestone, a memorable outdoor dining event will take place tomorrow in order to bring the community together as they enjoy locally produced cuisine.
The Summer Chef’s Dinner, which is a fundraiser to support the ongoing sustainability of the Andersonville Farmers Market, will take place this Thursday, July 25 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Swedish American Museum parking lot at Foster and Ashland. The event is put on by the Andersonville Sustainable Community Alliance (ASCA) and will showcase an assortment of local Andersonville restaurants, chefs and producers.
“We’re hoping to foster connection and community building within Andersonville and beyond, get people excited and informed about locally raised and produced food,” said Joan Oberndorf, Farmers Market Manager. “The event will raise funds for the market (specifically, the LINK matching program) -while everyone enjoys a fun and festive evening outdoors!”
With 16 different participating businesses, expect market-fresh food and desserts such as Bar Roma who will feature Green Fire Farm-sourced beef meatball on summer vegetable ragu and S’mores with homemade herb-infused marshmallows by Katherine Anne Confections. To wet adult attendee’s whistle, KOVAL
will offer a bourbon lemonade or cranberry gin spritz while Half Acre Beer Company and Empirical Brewery
will supply canned beer options.
According to the ASCA, each participating chef will be serving tasting portions of their signature dish, made using ingredients sourced from the market. Guests will circulate to get their food and beverages while visiting with friends and neighbors. Musical entertainment will be supplied Michael J. Miles and Andersonville Farmer’s Market favorite the Greenleaf Band.
“We are excited to taste the food – the dishes sound amazing,” Oberndorf added. “We look forward to connecting with everyone who’s coming out, to have fun and support the farmers market.”
General admission tickets are $50 and includes one admission to the Farmers Market Dinner including complimentary non-alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and cocktails can be purchased for $5 each). An Unlimited ticket is also available for $70 and includes one admission to the Farmers Market Dinner plus unlimited beverages including beer, wine and cocktails. A $10 Kid’s ticket is available as well for those 12 and under that are accompanied by an adult.
Tickets can be purchased HERE.
