Yesterday’s Believed Shooting On Sheridan Actuallly Happened Somewhere Else

crimeYesterday at 5:00 p.m. in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood, a man was treated on the 5800 block of Sheridan Rd. for apparent Gunshot Wounds. The 23-year-old male was shot in his left arm and left thigh. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition according to police.

Multiple news outlets reported that the shooting took place at the scene, however the investigation afterward is leading police to believe the incident actually occurred somewhere else.

In a statement released by the Alderman’s office today, they spoke about the findings,”The individual (who was shot) has been uncooperative with the Police about the details of this incident.  The subsequent Police investigation and interviews with numerous residents that were close to the location at the time of the occurrence, yielded no witnesses or any reports of shots fired at this location.  The Police found no crime scene evidence at this location and believe that this shooting occurred somewhere else.”

Since Wednesday early afternoon, gunfire erupted throughout the city. The aftermath left two people dead and another twelve injured.

The Alderman concluded his statement by saying, “The Police and my office are continuing to investigate the circumstances around this incident.  If you have any information about this incident please contact Area North Detectives at 312-744-8263 or Marko Zaric at my office at 773-784-5277.”
