You may have noticed them selling their delicious baked goods to the masses at the Edgewater Farmer’s Market. Area resident Kate Merrill who owns Kate’s Cookies, and Paige Tyler who owns Homemade Sin Bakery, have been tantalizing the neighborhood for some time now.

Kate and Paige however, have been looking at the bigger picture recently. In an email by 48th Ward Alderman Harry Osterman, he announced that the two are joining forces by setting up shop in the old True Nature Health Foods store at 6034 N. Broadway Ave. The name of the joint venture will be Edge of Sweetness.

According to the Alderman, “Kate and Paige envision their new shop, which they plan to open this fall,  as a true community place, where neighbors will be able to gather for coffee and good food.”

They will add an outdoor patio next summer.

Just up the street, in the old Sifu Design Studio at 6054 N. Broadway, RAM Art Studio opened this weekend. Owners Matt Martin and Rebecca McNealy are a part of a growing trend of locally-owned, art-focused businesses that focus on creativity and classes.

McNealy has shown her artwork in the past at many local creative shows including Edgewater’s own Fall Art Fair.
