Annual Sidewalk Sale Takes Over Andersonville This Weekend, Pokemon Go ‘Lures’ Add To Fun

Do you have any plans for this weekend, July 22-24?
Those familiar with Andersonville know that there is never a shortage of places to go, restaurants to visit or shops to explore in the neighborhood. To add to the mix once again this year, the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce has organized and is promoting the Annual Sidewalk Sale which will take place from 5000 to 5800 N. Clark St.
Joelle Scillia, Director of Marketing at the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, said, “This event benefits all the businesses who participate and the people in the neighborhood.”
Expect to see your favorite shops participate in the event, many who have been doing so for years. Scillia said, “I did a survey to see how long businesses have participated in the sidewalk sale. Alamo Shoes, who traditionally kick off the sale a day early on Thursday night, said they have been participating for 40 years! Women and Children First have been participating for 25 years.”
Scillia reports that the sale will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 22, 23 and 24, but those hours will vary depending on each individual business.
Also, on Saturday July 23 and Sunday July 24, the Women & Children First Used Book Sale will be held at 5233 N. Clark. The used book sale benefits the Women’s Voices Fund, whose goal is to foster discussion of feminist issues and culture, and to nurture children’s delight in books.
So whether you are looking for a new pair of shoes at Alamo, a kitchen item at The Wooden Spoon, or a piece of jewelry or a specialty item at the Andersonville Galleria, come out and spend some time on Clark Street at the annual sidewalk sale. If it is too hot or the weather does not cooperate, there are plenty of places along the way to duck in out of the heat or rain. There should be something for all at this popular neighborhood event.
There may even be something for those looking for Pokemon while playing Pokemon Go in the neighborhood this weekend. The Chamber plans to drop “lures” at select times throughout the sale. To find out more about this added attraction, visit Andersonville.org.
Happy shopping!
