Thursday: Positive Loitering on Thorndale
We joined the Positive Loitering effort on Thorndale last week which is organized by the Thorndale Action Task Force. Residents gather on a weekly basis and walk the street to create a positive presence in what has been a crime hot spot in the neighborhood, especially in the evenings. At least 12 people came out and mingled and walked, but despite our presence groups and individuals who looked like they might be up to no good still gathered on the street. One of the Positive Loiterers believed drug paraphanalia was observed and 911 was called. The police arrived in a matter of minutes and slowly cruised by, but no arrests were made.
Last week’s event was held on Monday, but this week the group will gather on Thursday at 8PM as part of the rotating weekly schedule according to Thorndale Action Task Force Chairman Lynn Pierce. Come out, meet your neighbors, and walk the streets! Its going to be warm, so support local business T’s Paison and stay hydrated by buying yourself a beverage or a bottle of water while you’re out.
