October Events To Benefit Edgewater’s Care For Real

lsBecause Edgewater loves our awesome local food pantry Care For Real, here are a few upcoming events this month to show your support:

Winter Coat Drive
On Tuesday, October 28, Care for Real will be partnering with The Pan-African Association and Red Cross by hosting our Annual Winter Clothing Drive and Welcome Event for several groups of African refugees and immigrants who come to Chicago’s Edgewater community to start a new life in our country. This year, we expect over 300 will be in need of our services and seek a mix of winter clothing to offer these new clients as we help to ensure they stay safe and warm through Chicago’s long, cold winter. These individuals and families – our new neighbors – have come to Edgewater to escape unstable political situations and political persecution, seek education, find more promising economic opportunities and reunite with family members. Please drop off winter clothing donations of coats (all sizes needed), boots, sweaters, socks, scarves, hats and mittens at Care for Real, 5339 North Sheridan Rd., Mon.-Fri 9:00am-3:45pm and Saturdays, 9:00am-1:00pm. Contact Lyle at 773.769.6182 or email lyle@careforreal.org for more information.
