New Wine Bar On Broadway Set To Open This Summer

It has been a bit of a journey for Nelson Fitch and Collin Moody, but after much work to get their long-awaited wine bar open, they anticipate a Summer 2016 opening. The business will be named Income Tax Wine Bar.

According to a DNAinfo story, the pair just received a $150,000 permit to begin work gutting the interior of the space at 5959 N. Broadway which will span two storefronts. They are working with architect Scott R. Becker of Partners By Design and Paragon Homes Inc. is on tap for the remodeling.

Last Fall, the owners worked with Alderman Harry Osterman to get the area’s liquor moratorium lifted. The city council approved temporarily halting the ban so that the business could obtain a license. According to city law, the moratorium will go back in effect in one year.

The space is planned to have an unpretentious, casual vibe where both wine enthusiasts and novices can enjoy themselves. They told DNA that they will carry lesser-known spirits, high-end cocktails, fine wine and a “pretty epic brandy list.”  They will also serve food and will suggest pairings.
