New Men’s Lifestyle Retail Store Opening In Andersonville

After a few retail stores that focused on male clients have closed in recent years along the Andersonville strip, a new men’s lifestyle business is ready to fill the gap.

Coming to the old Scrub-A-Dub Dub space at 1478 W. Summerdale, Cowboys and Astronauts will be taking over the space. The store is a dream that partners Matthew Buccilla and Greg Lanier (who are also Andersonville residents) have been thinking about for some time. They are hoping to open the store on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

“Cowboys and Astronauts is a men’s lifestyle and supplies store that celebrates the well-lived life by supporting authentic individualism, everyday adventure, and meaningful connections to the world around us,” the new company’s Facebook page said.  “Just like the inspirational icons for which the store is named, Cowboys and Astronauts invites us all to embrace and enjoy the challenge of being our best selves.”

According to them, they will offer both the brick and mortar store as well as an online shopping option providing ‘a blend of home goods, apparel, accessories, travel goods, grooming products, and gifts that help men lead a fulfilled and accomplished life whether out on the town, at work, on the trail, or entertaining in their homes.’

The store’s name, Cowboys and Astronauts, comes from the iconic figures in our past that we watched on our tv screens and that touched our hearts making us dream big about our futures. Buccilla comes from a long line of similar family businesses and will be running the operations.

“Since I was a wee boy, I’ve been infatuated with Mom and Pop shops,” said Buccilla. “This week a new journey begins as our very own Pop & Pop business is announced publicly. The storefront will be just down the street from us in our beloved neighborhood of Andersonville here in Chicago.”

The business will be showcasing both their progress and products every Wednesday on their Facebook page until the grand opening.
