Edgewater Aldi Could Offer Private Label And Locally Produced Alcohol Soon

After getting a complete overhaul last year and adding a wider range of products such as organic produce, the Edgewater Aldi at 6221 N. Broadway could also start offering a selection of alcohol soon.

In an announcement put out by Aldi foods, they will be having a community open house on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at their Edgewater store. The event will allow residents to stop by and discuss changes that the company wants to implement with both the store and district managers.

According to the Aldi, they would like to introduce 78 private label wine products (of which 33 items have received an 87 point rating or higher primarily by the Beverage Testing Institute), over 18 private label beer options, and eight locally produced beer brands such as Two brothers, Lagunitas, 312 and Revolution beers.

The open house will be the first step in Aldi’s process to acquire a liquor license for the Edgewater location. Alderman Harry Osterman will hold an upcoming community meeting concerning that request.
