Man Banned From Andersonville For Series Of Sexual Assaults Strikes Again While In Custody

A man who was banned from Andersonville for a series of sexual assaults against women and then arrested recently for violating that order after another incident has struck again while in custody.

After committing several sexual assaults aimed at women in Andersonville since the beginning of the year, 41-year-old Willie Wright was banned from the neighborhood earlier this summer by Cook County Judge Donald Panarese. Then on August 20 he violated that order and was arrested once again after grabbing a woman as she exited a ride sharing vehicle at Clark and Foster.

Now it was learned that on August 26 in a dayroom at the Cook County Jail where he was being held, Wright committed another crime by exposing himself to a female guard and masturbated in front of her. He was officially charged for the incident on September 4 with one count of public indecency/lewd conduct.

Wright has been well known by police, community leaders, and area residents after being arrested multiple times through the years for many types of crimes from sexual misconduct to battery and assault. As many victims of the assaults complained about being ignored by the justice system, the Andersonville community worked together in order to warn women on social media about Wright’s ongoing assaults. A poster bearing his image was also distributed throughout the area prompting women to be aware of the issue.

Wright received a $5,000 bond for the August 6 crime on top of the $7,500 bond for the August 20 crime. He appears next on October 8 at 9 a.m. at the Cook County Criminal Court at 5555 W. Grand.
