Lyft Driver Ambushed And Shot During Burglary On Wolcott Ave.

gunA Lyft driver was sent to pick up a fare in the 6100 block of N. Wolcott Avenue, just a couple blocks outside of Edgewater in West Ridge, Thursday night. When he arrived at his destination, he became a victim of an ambush in which he was robbed and shot.

The incident happened around 10:10 p.m. Thursday. When the 26-year-old driver got to the pre-arranged pick-up location, two men got into the back of the vehicle and robbed him of his wallet, cell phone and car keys. During the course of the robbery, he was shot in the right shoulder.

After the incident, the wounded Lyft driver managed to run to the nearby Citgo Gas station at Peterson and Wolcott, where police were called for assistance.

The injured man was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where his condition stabilized, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The victim is currently in good condition and has no gang affiliations, police said.
