Free Edgewater Event Saturday Will Shred Personal Documents, To Benefit Coat Angels

shed-1We all have personal documents and files with private information that we need to have destroyed. The problem is, they have stacked up and an on-site shredding service is needed to take care of the load.

Two area real estate agents are looking to help take care of your shredding needs. They will be taking donations to benefit coat angels. Todd Szwajkowski and Amie Klujian of the Swake Group are hoping this event will be an opportunity to meet more of of their neighbors—and for their neighbors to get to know who they are. In turn the event will help support a terrific cause.

Klujian said, “We were looking to do an event in the community that we live and work in. We wanted to do something unique that not only provided a service that people could use but would also support people in our community who need a hand.”

According to the pair, they chose Coat Angels because it is a 100% volunteer non-profit helping kids in need all over the city to stay warm during Chicago’s brutal winters by providing coats, fleeces, gloves and hats. Through the years, the Swake Group has made a donation to Coat Angels from every commission they earned. Saturday’s shred event will help continue that spirit of giving.

“Both of us live in the neighborhood. And we do a ton of business right here with our neighbors. In fact, by the end of this year, our team will have transacted $90-million in Edgewater,” said Szwajkowski. “We are always looking for new ways to connect with people in our community and like the idea of providing some sort of service when we do. Our Shred Event provides an opportunity for people to securely purge important documents with personal information.”

The shred event will take place this Saturday, November 12 from 11am-2pm in front of Cheetah Gym at 5248 N. Clark St. Bring your bags and boxes of shred materials along with a cash or check donation for Coat Angels.

All documents will be securely shredded in a big, onsite NAID-AAA Certified industrial shredding truck. 100% of your donations will go directly to the organization.
