Edgewater Man Charged With Shooting That Leaves Man In Serious Condition

An Edgewater man is charged with shooting another man while he walked out of a convenience store, leaving the victim in serious condition.

Juan Foster, 36, of Edgewater, is charged with one felony count of aggravated battery by discharge of a firearm after shooting an 18-year-old man as he left an Old Town store on June 7 around 7:30 p.m. on the 200 block of W. North Ave. Multiple witnesses who saw the shooting gave police the license plate number of a silver Jeep Cherokee Foster was riding in at the time of the incident.

Police tracked that license to an address on the 400 block of W. Barry and staked out the residence with a tactical team. both Foster and another man were taken into custody when they arrived in the area in the Jeep at around 9:15 p.m. The second person was later released and not charged.

The victim was shot twice in the torso and received graze wounds on the shoulder and elbow. He took himself to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was admitted in serious condition.

Foster is due in bond court today.
