Edgewater Man Charged In Crime Spree Which Robbed 3 Women In 30 Minutes

Dujuan Oliver

An Edgewater man is being charged with a crime spree in which he robbed three women in 30 minutes early Sunday morning. Connections to additional robberies are currently being investigated.

27-year-old Dujuan Oliver was pulled over for making an illegal u-turn on the 4500 block of N. Broadway and was then taken into custody for driving on a suspended license. It was then that the officer noticed the suspect matched a description of a man who had committed a recent string of robberies. Upon further investigation, stolen property from the victims was found in Oliver’s car.

The three incidents occurred in both Lakeview and Lincoln Park. The first incident happened on the 2600 block of N. Orchard around 6:30 a.m. as a woman was walking her dog.  Oliver threatened to punch the woman in the face if she did not hand over her belongings.

The second incident occurred about 15 minutes later on the 600 block of W. Arlington place. Oliver reached into his waistband implying he had a weapon and fled the scene with the victim’s passport and $200 in cash.

The third incident happened on the 900 block of W. George Street around 6:55 a.m. Oliver again implied he had a gun. The woman threw her phone and ran from the scene.

According to police, all three women identified Oliver as the thief. Police also said that Oliver attempted to rob another woman on the 4000 block of N. Kenmore about an hour before he was arrested.

Judge Michael Clancy ordered Oliver held on $50,000 bond this past Monday. He is due back in court Friday.
